What a wonderful weekend of activities for the Clermont State School 150th Celebrations!  It was an excellent opportunity for our school to come together with the high school and the whole community to celebrate.  It was also interesting to hear that we were the 21st school to be opened in Queensland and that Clermont has continued to value and support our state schools. I have had much positive feedback about the way our students looked and behaved at the ceremony at the high school on Friday.  It was so great to see our Captains, our youngest student enrolled Amelia Thompson, our Junior Verse Speakers and our QMF Choir participate in the ceremony.
The ceremony was the beginning of an exciting weekend where the contents of the 1967 capsule were unearthed and were displayed in surprisingly good condition considering the water which ran from the capsule as it was lifted up.  The Historical Centre was filled with over 300 people wanting to see what was in the capsule and those who had work inside were able to be reunited with their samples at the end of the event.
This was followed by the official dinner on the Saturday night and then the parade and brunch in the park on Sunday morning.  Our P and C catered for the brunch were run off their feet serving food and drinks to the crowds who turned out to participate in or watch the parade.
All in all it was very special weekend and I thank the  organizing committee, our P and C and everyone else who helped out to pull it together. Particular thanks must go to one of our parents, Julia Shelley who was on the organizing committee but also worked at every event over the weekend.  She even worked for the high school P and C at the dinner Saturday night.  Well done Julia-you were a great representative of Clermont State School and your efforts were much appreciated by the committee and our school.
